I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling 22. The year 2022, that is! One of our New Year’s Eve traditions is simply staying in! Tyler and I tend to be homebodies, and it just makes sense for us to enjoy a fun evening in, versus fighting the crowds, traffic, etc.
Over the past 9 years of marriage, we have basically become experts on staying in on New Year’s Eve. We know how to do it right. It just so happens that our preferred way to spend ringing in the New Year also happens to be VERY in nowadays due to the pandemic.
If you are at a loss for how to bring in 2022 from home, I have curated a special guide to help you achieve a fun and creative atmosphere right in your very own house!

Party Decor
I like to keep decor simple and to a minimum, given we are coming off the heels of having up all of our Christmas decor. It’s great to have a fun photo backdrop setup, as well as having noise makers at the ready for when the clock strikes midnight.
Entertainment
If you are planning on ringing in the New Year at home, you definitely need lots of entertainment. It’s especially important if you plan on staying awake until midnight. Fun group games and activities always does the trick for our family! Our tradition involves playing our Nintendo Switch and plenty of board games. The more competitive the game, the better!
Serving
One thing I definitely don’t want to be doing on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day is dishes. Throw away servingware is a must, but no one said it can’t be stylish!
Apparel
Rounding out my New Year’s guide is comfy clothes. You absolutely can’t have a fun and relaxing party while sitting in sequins. I mean, maybe some of you can, but let’s be real. Pajamas are where it’s at. I love getting my whole family into them, and it’s a special touch that helps to create some of the cutest photos!
Whatever you decide to do and wherever you decide to be, I hope that you are having the time of your life ringing in 2022, and are remembering everything you loved about this year. I hope this guide inspires you to stay in, and enjoy some quality time with those that matter most to you.
